Kaspersky Anti Virus 7
« on: October 21, 2007, 09:18 »
For anyone thinking of buying, or renewing their Kaspersky Anti Virus, PC World have Kaspersky 7 with a 3 PC licence going for £19-99!

I bought one yesterday! Not sure how the 3 licence works though-whether you can let your friends use the other copies. Worth looking at I would have thought.

I think it's as it says on the tin, DG, and you can license 3 machines with the same key.  I don't think they have to be on the same network or anything, but presumably, any second and third licenses would be under your registration details.  That actually sounds quite a good deal, but going on your post, it is just the anti-virus component, and not the full suite.

I came across a good bargain on eBay the other day - 25 (legal) copies of F-Secure Internet Security 2006 (OEM) for just over £10 with P&P.  These can be installed, and then updated to the 2008 version, or the 2008 version might even accept the 2006 licenses (the 2007 version did), so either way, £2.50 for the full suite, was something not to refuse, given that I can sell them on for at least 100% profit!

Your deal Simon certainly looks superb! Good luck with it.

Yes, my deal is Kaspersky Anti virus only. Im useing it with Online Armor Firewall, which is magnificent. This firewall is automatic, and sets ports etc automatically, and also is a full protection system in itself. They have just launched a free version as well.

Oh that's interesting - I'll add that to our Firewalls info tab.  :thumb:

I note the security suite uses the Kaspersky anti-virus engine, so presumably no need for both?

I have just obtained a copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0, quite legally I might add, I did have to join a Chinese forum to obtain a free licence key. From previous problems that I have encountered with firewalls and anti this and anti that not playing well together, I thought it a good idea to find out what I need to uninstall before trying to install this one.
I have a Comodo Firewall, AVG Anti Virus free, AdAware, Asquared, SpyBot, Spyware Blaster, XP Anti Spy, WinPatrol, Windows Defender.

I would like to keep them in case I have problems with Kaspersky.

Hi Misty-

If I were you I would take out everything except Spyware Blaster. Kaspersky has everything you need, and will conflict badly with other Security Progs.

I can recommend Kaspersky very highly, and your quite right, in my opinion its best to have apps that work together, rather than a hotch poch of different ones.

Hey, Thanks Delgado.

So Comodo is fine, do I need to remove all the Anti Virus stuff that has been given permission in Comodo as well?  :dunno:

Have you got Kaspersky Anti Virus 7 only or complete Suite?

If youve got Anti Virus only, you need a firewall yes, and Im not sure whether Kaspersky plays with Comodo or not-look on the Comodo forum and check-

  http://forums.comodo.com/

If you use Comodo firewall, and like Kaspersky, I would take out all references to other security progs, yes!

 Good Luck !

Just the Anti Virus.

Comodo Forum will keep me busy for a while, thanks for the Link.

Well, I didn't find anything about Kaspersky, I didn't look that hard. But I found out the hard way, un-installed all the Anti-Virus programs and tried to install Kaspersky, asked me to un-install Comodo.

Hmmm.....back to the drawing board.

Looked on the Kaspersky forum and found that Comodo is fine if it's installed after Kaspersky.

After a little uninstalling and reinstalling, I'm quite impressed, did a full scan, both Kaspersky and Comodo, and found 3 trojans and a couple of Ad Ware.

Computer should be clean now and both are running.
