Halloween email a ghoulish trick
« on: October 22, 2007, 15:23 »
An email that attempts to lead you to a website where your personal details are stolen is doing the rounds.

According to experts at security firm Sophos, the email takes advantage of the upcoming Halloween festivities to persuade you to open it and follow its instructions.

The email offers a gift voucher of $250 (around £120) to take part in what appears to be a market research survey but asks for information that could be used to steal your identity.

"It's not immediately obvious whether this spam is being sent to commit identity theft or whether it's market research gone mad," said Graham Cluley of Sophos.

If you visit the site and give it your personal information the chances are that you will be bombarded with unwanted junk email," Cluley continued.
