Grace
« on: November 01, 2007, 10:25 »
A woman invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to her six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"

"I don't know what to say," the little girl replied.

"Just say what you hear Mommy say," the woman said.

The daughter bowed her head and said, "Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

At a formal dinner in a certain Royal Air Force Officers Mess a few years ago, I was unexpectedly called upon to say grace in lieu of the padre who was being dined out as a guest.  It so happened that I was also being dined out that night and as a non-believer I found this call on me particularly objectionable.  So I just said, "Rub-a-dub-dub, thank God for the grub".

Nobody spoke to me for the rest of the evening.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.
