iPhone fever hits the UK
« on: November 08, 2007, 13:44 »
The iPhone will go on sale in the UK tomorrow, and iPhone fever has already taken over the web.

Popular auction site eBay has seen fit to clarify its rules to sellers who are looking to make a quick buck on the device, which is already being advertised for sale on eBay.co.uk.

"Due to the high demand and limited supply of the Apple iPhone, eBay is taking strong measures to protect both buyers and sellers within our community," eBay said in a statement.

It went on to say that one- and three-day listings are not allowed, that PayPal must be offered as a payment method, and that new sellers cannot list using the 'Buy It Now' option.

The Carphone Warehouse announced its quarterly results this morning and chief executive Charles Dunstone hailed the effect the iPhone was anticipated to have on the company's future profits.

"We are delighted to be the only independent distributor selected by Apple to launch the iPhone. It goes on sale from 6pm tomorrow and has already attracted widespread customer interest," said Dunstone.

Apple also promised to help customers buying an iPhone to get to grips with the device with in-store workshops.

Ron Johnson, Apple's senior vice president of retail, said: "Every Apple retail store will offer support for iPhone at the legendary Genius Bar, and beginning Saturday morning you can learn how to get the most out of your new iPhone by attending a free workshop or scheduling a personal training session through our popular One-to-One program."

Earlier this week O2, the exclusive network operator for the iPhone in the UK, announced that it was dropping the 'fair usage policy' that applied to its 'unlimited' data access promise.

Yes and there speaks the voice of experience.  I don't think I would have one, purely for the fact that I would rack up huge online access bills on it.
