BT Vision self install available
« on: November 08, 2007, 13:46 »
BT Vision is now available to customers who wish to install the service in their homes themselves, BT announced today.

You can save yourself a £60 call-out charge for an engineer if you're prepared to install BT Vision in your home yourself, incurring just a £30 connection fee.

However, you need to be a BT Total Broadband customer to get the service. There are a variety of content packages you can sign up to, from pay monthly deals and on-demand films, TV programmes or sporting events.

The equipment is delivered directly to your home and includes powerline adapters that plug into the mains electricity and carry the video signal from the BT Home Hub to the set-top box via the domestic power circuit.

Dan Marks, BT Vision chief executive said: "For customers who don't want or need an engineer visit, Self Install makes BT Vision an even more attractive choice ? it gives all the benefits of our next-generation digital TV service for an incredible up front price of just £30."

The service, which offers a range of TV programming, video-on-demand as well as live sport including Premier League football, is already in 70,000 homes in the UK, according to BT.

There were a number of delays after the plans were announced, the service finally went live last December.
