Topic: Permissions on drives in Vista for users

Hi guys,


I am setting up a home network in my new place and wanted to know how to set permissions on certain drives. I have 3 different hard drives in the main pc and 2 users attached to this pc. I also am going to have a network hard drive attached directly to the wireless router in which all pc's in the house will be able to access as this will have music and movies on.

What I would like to do is set permissions for each individual user as to what drives they can use. For example I would like this main PC to have 2 users but one user can see and use one particular drive and the other can use their own particular drive. Can this be done in Vista?

I think it can be done if you go to the properties of each drive and go to the security tab.
Then you can edit each users permissions for that drive or set a group permission.
If you want to make a drive unavailable to one particular user just deny the read part to that user.

I havent tried it but looking at the options in the security tab it looks quite easy to do
