Topic: External Hard Drive Power Supply

I purchased an external USB hard drive enclosure. The power suppply went pop.
The ebay seller was unable to supply another power unit, do you know anyone that could supply another unit?

My USB drive has a 12volt @2.5amp power supply so I amagine that will be similar for all external drives.
You could probably get a laptop power supply of that spec or higher.
It may cost as much as it would to buy a low capacity USB drive though and use the power supply from that.

I dont think you can use a laptop psu, most laptop psu's are about 18v not 12v, you need a psu that has 12v + 5v pins, like the one below

Thank you for your advice. I can get a power supply, if I buy another enclosure as the sellers don?t appear to sell them separately.
Gmax link is great as they sell the supplies, only problem is they are USA based.
As long as I can find a supply with the same pin arrangement, which is:
A circular plug with 6 pins. Looking at the end.
Bottom 2 Ground, Right 2   +5V, Left 2   +12V
Supply rated 12V   1.5A,   5V  1.5A.
