Mini DV tape to DVD
« on: February 07, 2008, 20:47 »
Hi All  ;D

I want to convert a Mini DV tape to DVD.  I have plugged the DV Camcorder into my Winast VC100 video capture card using a Composite cable.

I'm using Uleads Movie Factory (that came bundled with the hardware).  I am trying to capture the video straight off the Camcorder, but the quality is a lot worse than that shown on the camcorder screen.  The sound cuts out sometimes and the picture has noise on it in some parts.

What is the best settings to use. I have around a full DV tape (90mins) and want to fit it onto 1 DVD for general DVD viewing if I can.

Or if you have any other software recommendations - let me know.

Any advice - I haven't done this before!

Cheers, DJ.

Neither have I, John, so I probably won't be much help, but have you checked any compression settings that might be available in Ulead?  For a 90min DVD, you shouldn't need to use compression at all for standard definition.
