I have had to change my credit card twice in the last few months. The first time they contacted me to ask about a couple of suspicous transactions for only £1 each, which I hadnt made. They said that was a way they tested they had got a genuine card so they cancelled it and issued a new one a few days later. About 3 weeks after that I was checking my online card statement and noticed a transaction for just over £61 that I hadnt made, I had only used that card about 6 times at that point  :o
So I rang them to see who the firm was and what I had bought. They said it was an online store selling AV programs and similar software, would I have been dealing with them ?
They dont know me very well do they  :)x
They also said there was another item that hadnt come through on my online statement at that time for just over a pound, which again wasnt mine, so they cancelled that card and issued me with another.
So far that hasnt been compromised, as far as I know but I did a lot of very thorough scans of my pc, in case I had a key logger or something on, but didnt find anything   ::)

It's happened to me three times in four years, and is a real pain, especially when you've got outstanding orders here and there, and have to cancel them to re-order with your new card.  I now have two cards, so if one gets compromised, I'm not stuck without one until it gets replaced.  It always seems to happen around this time of year, in the run up to Christmas, too.   >:(

Yes, that's happened to me twice in the past year.  Very annoying.
