Engineering Timelines
« on: July 29, 2008, 11:54 »
I found this website while doing a little research to send a nasty message to the national rail authorities, following the closure of the Buxton/Manchester - Blackpool/Edinburgh/Glasgow/Cumbria train line between Preston and Chorley stations for a period of six weeks in order to strengthen the Chorley Flying Arches, to enable high-speed train to use the line.  Virgin inter-city trains already pass through, but have to slow to a crawl at this point.  I cannot remember when I last used the train for a journey of any real distance and didn't have to use a "rail replacement" bus service for part of the journey.  My argument is that the railway companies should not charge for a full train journey if passengers are forced onto a lesser form of public transport for part of the journey.

Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox and let those interested look at the link.

I've not hand many problems with rail replacement buses recently... essentially if you can avoid Sundays around here it seems fine.

Oh and that's one cool website, those arches are amazing!

What a fantastic website!  Lots of places worth checking out if you are visiting an area.   ;)
