OK so we have sorted these two will my brand new and yet unused 450 psu be good enough I dont want to get another do I ?

I'm guessing it would be adequate, David, but with little headroom.  What sort of graphics card are you looking at?

One thing I would suggest, is try to get everything in one go from the same retailer, so as to save on delivery costs. 

Also, when you've got a complete basket, go somewhere else, say Scan or Ebuyer, create an identical basket and compare the total cost.   I saved about £30 by switching to Scan from Ebuyer.

I must have learned something from all these posts here,thats what I am doing Simon,making a list then when I have one which will all work together then buy from the same place.so far so good  also listing the prices to compere.my rationale is that when I blow the thing up it will be cheaper

Nope looked at one I like but have to ensure dimensions as the psu is long when compared with the other machine .the psu was almost rubbing against the CD drive .

Just a thought, but many cases come with a fitted PSU.  Mine is a 550w (I think  - it'll be in the thread) and with the case, came to something like £50.  I know that will leave you with a spare PSU, but it's quite cost effective to buy them both together, and you won't have the worry of whether it fits.

Unfortunately, it's gone up in price since, but it's still not bad value, considering the PSU is included, and you can get free delivery, so it wouldn't be a disadvantage to buy separately.

Looks good Simon and as the psu is included not eye watering so its on my list

Only thing I would say is, get some Molex extenders, as the leads from the PSU are not that long, so extenders will prevent having leads stretching across the motherboard.   Molex connectors are the four pin connectors to power the drives.

With you here Simon thats the 4 tube like ends this spare psu has 6  I think

Sounds about right, David.  You might not need them, but they shouldn't be more than a couple of quid each, and it's nice to be prepared.  By the way, that case also has screwless drive fitting, which makes things nice and easy.

Spend the extra 5 pounds on a new heatsink.

The last two dual core processors i bought came with really s**tty heatsinks. They had 4 push pens that clipped to the other side of the motherboard when pushed down hard enough. The problem with that is if you don't hear the click of the clip you aren't sure whether or not its actually gone through all the way. I was afraid of breaking the hardware pushing down on the things. Now i did make sure the temperature was stable after I finished, but still that design made me nervous as hell.

There is a major risk of chipping the processor or breaking your motherboard when pushing down too hard. I liked the old socket A heatsink clips a hell of a lot more.
