5. The butcher backed into the meat grinder
and got a little behind in his work.

6. No matter how much you push the envelope,
it'll still be stationery.

7. A dog gave birth to puppies near the road
and was cited for littering.

8. A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in
Linoleum Blownapart.

9. Two silk worms had a race.
They ended up in a tie.

10. Time flies like an arrow.
Fruit flies like a banana.

11. A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall.
The police are looking into it.

What an excellent memory you have Rik.  Lonnie's version was equally as good.

What an excellent memory you have Rik.  Lonnie's version was equally as good. 

It's strange, Clive, I didn't 'notice' LD that much at the time, but I find I remember lots of his songs, and not just the hits, eg "The party's over".

I always liked his songs but I think Steal Away was too melancholic to be a huge hit for anyone!

A quick google revealed that it was the flipside of "Pick a Bale of Cotton" but it certainly had airplay at the time otherwise I would not have heard his version.  I actually had a copy of Pat Boone's version on a compilation LP which I no longer have.

He was probably the first singer, at least that I can remember, who brought spirituals to the mainstream. A talented man, under-rated at the time, imo.
