Mozilla is preparing to end its support for the Firefox 2 browser and will be asking anyone still using it to upgrade to Firefox 3 over the next few days.
Firefox 3 has been available as a full release since June, when it set a world record for the most downloads of a piece of software in one day.
"As Firefox 2 is rapidly approaching the point where Mozilla will no longer be actively issuing security and stability updates, we strongly recommend that users consider upgrading to Firefox 3," Mozilla said in a statement.
Mozilla said that anyone using Firefox 2 will receive a message in the next couple of days. They will have the option to upgrade, dismiss the message or ask to be reminded later.
Alternatively, if you are still running Firefox 2, you can select the Check For Updates option in the Help menu.
