lol that got your attention 

I wonder if you can help with a problem - its an xbox problem but you lot know about ip's and networks so i think you might be able to help.  ok.....

Set up is this.....
Belkin f5d8231-4 wireless router
Pc Plugged in..works fine
xbox wireless connected.. works fine...
Laptop wireless connected.. works fine...
10mb virgin cable internet.

added another xbox - hmmm and here lies the problem - sometimes it works but most of the time when they both on line together on of them gets kicked off line. Both can play on line but not at the same time, which is what they want to play live games together. Which they did manage to do once... or twice?

I called xbox first as we could never get both on at same time, and they said its because they are both using auto IP and we need to set the second one as a manual IP and it will work.... well as i say sometimes it does and sometimes not.

Do you think there is another setting i could be changing, like the gateway ?

I have read about port forwarding, some ppl suggest that -i don't know what that is, but there is a whole website for it. I wondered if you knew about this? I don't want to ruin the set up that works already.

Both using the same LAN IP sounds like it may well be your problem Michelle.

Can you set them manually to use a different static IP for each one ?

Make sure your router is DHCP enabled then when you connect your second xbox, go into its "network settings" menu and click the DHCP and it should reboot and have it's own separate LAN address.

one is set up static ip now, and the other is auto - i could try setting the other as static too then.....

(is lan ip just the ip address?)

You can let it use DHCP for the non static one but once its assigned it then set it as static for that box as well.
LAN IP is the local area network address, as opposed to the WAN IP  (Wide Area Network) or internet.

Your WAN is your external (Internet) connection which if it's a static IP will always be the same number. Yours is 77.103.150.XXX. I didn't put the last 3 numbers but you'll know the number i mean  

That shouldn't have anything to do with the problem.

Your LAN is your internal home network which will have a number for each device that is connected to your router. Yours will start with 192.168.2.1 then each piece of equipment will have a different last number. eg 2, 3, 4

Make sure DHCP is enabled on your router which i expect it is then when you attach your 2nd xbox, go into the xbox menu and click DHCP in the "network settings" and it should reboot with it all filled in with the next available LAN number automatically.

As Sandra says, if you then go back into the 2nd xbox settings and switch off the DHCP it will then freeze those settings so they will always stay the same.

thanks i think i understand now lol

but......  there isn't an option for DCHP in the xbox network settings.

should the gateway be 192 .168. 2 .1 - and also the DNS something is the same?

The only setting you need to change in the 2nd xbox from the first is that the IP should be a higher number

eg if your 1st xbox is 192.168.2.4 then change the second xbox to 192.168.2.5 as long as you haven't got anything else using that number in your router settings

You'd also have to set the 2nd xbox IP in your router too.

If the xbox had DHCP then it would have automatically configured it for you but it looks like you'll have to do it manually.

hmmm i think thats how it is set up now cam.....

one has an manual ip - and it works on line and the other has a manual.....

it seems to be something to do with NAT........ one has open nat and the other must not.

I think i need a compatable router!! but there must be a work around.

You probably need to open the port (port forwarding) for the second X box in your router settings.
