1. (1922) Ulysses James Joyce

How can that be?  Has anyone actually ever read it?  :nerd:

It's supposed to be unreadable Simon.  I must confess to not having read many on that list.

I don't think there is one there, that I would want to read. I'm a Patricia Cornwall, Richard North Patterson sort of reader.  ;D

I've read excerpts from Ulysses and been so underwhelmed that I would not want to read the whole book.

The panel that chose this selection seems to be nothing more than a bunch of literary technicians.  Some of their choices are good but there are some notable exceptions.  How any book by Virginia Woolf could be selected is beyond me.

There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Haven't read any of Virginia Woolf, but I didn't mind Radcliffe Hall. That was over 20 years ago, I may not feel the same though.
