« on: January 21, 2009, 18:14 »
Evenin' all
Can anyone nudge me towards a safe cd ripper to convert cda to mp3. i'm thinking of embracing the 21st century and sticking my cd's onto something more portable.  :woot:

Windows Media Player should do it, Dave?  Oh, hang on, does it convert?  If not Google is your friend for Audacity.  :)

Cheers Simon  ;) my old friend google first found me FREERIPmp3, unfortunately it contained a payload (mywebsearch.br) but luckily i scanned it first and binned it.  Audacity won't convert .cda files also I'm not sure if it can rip from a cd either. I did however find a program called FREE CD RIPPER which seems ok and does what it says on the tin. now to find a decent mp3 player.  i'm tempted by an ipod nano, much as I hate itunes it seems like the best option out there.

There's another one called CD Burner XP, which Sam recommended to me, Dave, and also, of course, Nero.  :)

I use it a lot - it starts quicker than Nero, and uses less resources.  :)

Although you've got me doubting myself now!  I'm sure I've used Nero to rip and burn before.

I think you're right, certainly about Nero, Dave.  I can't see how to rip a CD with it.   I have just managed one with Windows Media Player though, which I mentioned in the first place.  ;D
