Only a day after the extreme weather conditions which brought parts of Britain to a standstill, the BBC is preparing the full launch of its new weather website.
The new BBC Weather site, currently in beta, features detailed maps as well as three-hourly breakdowns to show more clearly how the weather will change over the next 24 hours.
Also included on the new site are embedded forecast videos on each location page, to make it easier to watch the latest forecast.
Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise, said: "Yesterday was the busiest ever day for weather websites in the UK.
"Websites in our weather category picked up 1.6 per cent of all UK Internet visits, equivalent to one in every 63," he added.
The BBC's new weather website has been in beta testing since September 2008, with a full launch expected early in February.
