Parkinson: 'Goody was exploited'
« on: April 09, 2009, 11:35 »
Sir Michael Parkinson has hit out at the media's treatment of the late reality TV star Jade Goody.

Writing in the Radio Times, the 74-year-old said Goody had become property of the media "to be manipulated and exploited 'til the day she died".

He added she came to represent "all that's paltry and wretched about Britain", and was "the perfect victim of our times".

I agree with him in part, but she put herself forward to be exploited and did a fair amount of exploiting herself. That said, "all that's paltry and wretched about Britain" sums the country up very well.

Yes, I thought that too.  She was used by the media, but she also used it to her own advantage, mainly financial, and has, at least, provided some security for her sons to benefit from in the future, providing, of course, that the money is managed correctly.

She started, though, by going onto BB in the hope of finding celebrity/notoriety and money.

There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Of course he is right but I think Parkinson is such a snob and up his own rear and as he is only seen now selling insurance to the elderly in ads it sort of makes me mad........he can lob stones from his ivory tower....

The bandwagon I hope the wheels fall off as I never new her ,she never knew me ,like many who die young its tragic for her family ,the hoards who have an urge to grieve over someone who they think they know via a TV screen is beyond me .

Without the Hype, would anybody, apart from her immediate family have been bothered about her at all?

The only thing that she had going for her was that she was supposedly a celebrity, whatever that is, and a pretty sad specimen of one in my opinion.
