Twitter dominated by a handful
« on: June 09, 2009, 14:58 »
Most of the 'tweets' posted on Twitter are made by a small minority of members, according to research.

A study from Harvard Business School has found that around 90 per cent of the posts on the micro-blogging service are made by 10 per cent of the site's overall membership.

Twitter is estimated to have in excess of 10 million members and celebrities such as Lance Armstrong and Stephen Fry regularly post updates.

But the study from Harvard showed that nearly half of the site's members only post an update once every 74 days.

And many people will only ever make one tweet in their life, according to the study.

It's just another useless overblown service. The media picked up on it like it was the best think since sliced cheese. Give it a year and it'll be forgotten about.

I quite agree, Bob.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

I agree, David, it seems pointless, as does My Face, Spacebook, etc, when Messenger does the same job.
