WIFI problem
« on: November 06, 2009, 17:34 »
OK Pals,

Get your thinking caps on!

The router has stopped broadcasting a signal. The PC and two laptops can connect to the net with a cable connection only. My laptop can pick up several other internet signals in the area, but not mine. I installed the software that came with the router, but it hasn't worked.
OS Vista basic (yes, I know!)
Here are the bios from the PC that the router is connected to:

Sounds like the wireless connection has died, John, do you have access to another router to test which end?

Hello Rik,

Nope, I haven't got another router.
Shall I try resetting the router?

Hello again,

Well, I turned everything off, turned the router on and reset it. I then turned the PC on and reloaded the isp software. I had to do this three times before it actually worked. I didn't really want to start playing about with the router, but at least it worked.

I think vista and kaspersky might have got in the way here.

Cheers

You shouldn't need any router software, John, as you're connecting via ethernet.

I think I needed the software to configure the router.
Anyway, before I could connect the PC and two laptops to the router by cable, and it worked, but the wifi wouldn't work. After resetting the router and running the CD again, the wifi works. I'm not sure why, but I don't care

Thanks Rik!
