Microsoft disconnects Xbox gamers

Thousands of gamers may have been cut off from Microsoft's online gaming service Xbox Live for modifying their consoles to play pirated games.

Online reports suggest that as many as 600,000 gamers may have been affected.

I suppose you can see their point, but people who make backups of their games to save the originals from getting scratched, might be a bit miffed.

yeah. Its just microsoft, I swear the'd be better off taking a more lenient approach. End of the day these people are paying to be members of xbox live - so surely they are making money no matter what anyway!

Xbox console ban is 'permanent' 

Thousands of Xbox 360 owners who have been cut off from Microsoft's Xbox Live service will have to buy a new console if they want to play online again.
