I'd be sad to see them fail, I cut my teeth on Corel products.

I can't remember why, but I didn't like the later versions of Paint Shop Pro, especially after they removed Animation Shop, and made you buy it separately.

Yes, I was heavily into Corel software too, particularly on my early machines.

I'm only just retiring WordPerfect, Clive, as it doesn't like my latest printer. I still think it's a better WP than word, though.

PSP was originally a JASC product.  Corel bought them out a couple of years ago.

I must say, I do like CorelDraw.  The full version is very expensive but I got a 'lite' version with my graphics tablet and I love it for designing scroll saw patterns.  Inkscape is good but it doesn't compare to CorelDraw (and it keeps crashing on Vista machines).  I hope Corel survives.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Corel acquired most of their products, Gill, I think only Draw! was an original. I paid about £500 for it in the late 80s, but it was a tax deductible tool for me, and I earned a lot of money with it.

I used to use the DOS version of WP on my old 286 machine at work.  An improvement on my AT for certain!  The database was DBase 4 and the spreadsheet was Lotus 123 (all DOS naturally).  The first Windows OS I had at work was NT on a 486.

I had Windows 1, run time, on a 386SX (it might even have just been on a 286). :)

I had 3.1 on my 386SX at home.  Always miles ahead of what I was given at work.  But I downgraded to 3.0 for a while because I was using a version of Pagemaker for 3.0 and compatibility was an issue even back then!  My own favourite was Ami Pro 3.

One of many that seemed to fall by the wayside, XyWrite and WordStar for example.

Never heard of XyWrite but I used Wordstar 2000 for a while.  I was always looking for the perfect WP and I found it with Ami Pro!  I managed to keep it through Win 95 and 98 but XP finished it off.  :bawl:

XyWrite was favoured by technical writers as it could handle formulae etc very well.
