It has since then been progressively improved by the contributions of hundreds of computer programmers around the world. Since I've been working at UofC I've grown rapidly to Python, its pretty excellent.

Very reminiscent of the BASIC I used on my Commodore 64 .

I guess so, python is supposed to be nice and simple and you dont have to compile the code to get it to work - it has some very nice array operations that also make it fast... still though not as fast as FORTRAN or C.
