Web giants unite against Digital Britain copyright plan
« on: December 02, 2009, 22:44 »
Some of the biggest names on the web have written to Peter Mandelson to express "grave concerns" about elements of the Digital Economy Bill.

Facebook, Google, Yahoo and eBay object to a clause that they say could give government "unprecedented and sweeping powers" to amend copyright laws.  "We urge you to remove Clause 17 from the bill," the letter read.

Mandelson keeps company with the Rothschilds.  So long as the bill has the approval of private bankers, I doubt he's much bothered by any lobbying.

Mind, the objectors aren't protesting because they have suddenly seen the light and become adversaries of draconian intellectual property legislation.  They're not bothered about the interests of the consumer; they're interested in their own business profitability.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Of course!  Who is ever bothered about the interests of the consumer?   :dunno:

I'm glad that these big companies are fighting, I know its in their best interests but still nice to see them fighting for things that are right.
