The story has been a hot topic in the media this week based on http://news.skymania.com/2010/01/supernova-star-too-close-for-comfort.html .  The story was a complete load of rubbish and I thought it may have been of interest.   ;D

that's a pretty big distance. Anyway we will long be gone before it explodes.. not that the radiation from something that distance would cause that much of an issue...
