Always, Rod. We all hear differently, and buying on the basis of reviews or peer recommendations is always risky.

Yes, I totally agree.  I just wish there was somewhere nearer.

That's rather harsh, Simon.  I'm sure most Meridian dealer's partners find them quite attractive.  :o

;D

We have one 'proper' AV shop in town, and I'm slightly embarrassed to go in there, as I think they've got wise to my going in and asking for demos, then going away and buying the stuff 30% cheaper online.  ;D

Go on...  what's the worst that could happen?  Anyway, a subwoofer wouldn't fit.

It might be painful if they tried though, Rod.  :horror:

Rik, for that price, I'd like them!  ;D

Phoned Richer Sounds today, and they have a Kef Kube2, but it's ex-display, and they want the same for it as I can get a brand new one for from SuperFi.  Might try to do a deal with them tomorrow.

Well, imo, you can't go far wrong with KEFs, Meridian used to use their speakers and I have a pair of Reference 104s.

So, it's an ex-display one on Saturday, or a delivered new one in a couple of weeks.

If the price is right, ex-display is generally OK.

Just been reading up a bit on AVForums about KEF subs, and it seems that don't have a great reputation for reliability.  I'm now thinking of going totally OTT and ordering a BK Monolith, which seems to be one of the most favoured and highly regarded subs around.  I've heard the 'baby' version, the XLS200, which didn't exactly blow my socks off, but the Monolith is said to shift some air!
