Why did I order this laptop? It is one of many companies, known and less-known, who offer their hardware with Linux installed, instead of a version of Microsoft's Windows. You can read about the beginning of my research and these companies in my previous blog, "Buying a Linux Laptop ...

At least there wouldn't be issues with any existing hardware.

exactly. There aren't that many these days anyway, but its the way to go if you want to use Linux but are scared about installing it.

I reckon a company offering dual boots with windows XP would do well.

I wouldn't have a problem with a Linux machine, if it worked as well as a Windows one, out of the box.

that time is basically there.... I dunno I personally feel it is, but I understand why people dont want to. I really also like the fact that when Ubuntu and Fedora are installed they already have things like skype, open office, firefox... and basically anything you probably need straight away installed with the distribution. No messing.
