Topic: picture wont display

hi all

i've got a particular picture on another site that wont display. its a map(i know this from work pc) but all i get at home is a blank area where the map should be with a small square with a red x inside in top left corner. this happens occasionally on other sites also. both work and home pc are running ie 5.5.

i know it'll be something simple, simon will probably direct me to the "display hidden map " button that i've missed. i have tried right clicking and selecting "show picture" but to no avail.

as ever any advice gratefully received.

That usually means the site its linked to is down Dave,are you sure its not up when youre at work and offline when youre at home?
Failing that have a look in Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and see if ticking or unticking some of the stuff such as JAVA helps

You will probably not be at the work PC again until Tuesday now,but if you havent sorted it by then if you take note of what the advanced settings are at work and set yours up the same then you may find its ok

already checked my settings in IE. just about everything seems to be enabled including the java options. its not really that important just slightly annoying.

I had the same thing on a site last night,when I right clicked on the empty pic and clicked on properties it still gave the URL for where it was linked to so I assumed that the site was down at that point.If you find the same thing again put the URL for it on here and see if anyone else can get it as it may just be an unreliable site that the pic is linked to

your spot on sandra, its working now so presumably it was just the site not working right at the time.  good advice yet again.
