Coronal mass ejections can send bursts of charged particles, called solar wind, streaming toward Earth, where they can overload our planet's magnetic shield, knocking out satellite communications and power grids.

Isn't this what that stupid Paradox programme was based on last year?

I quite enjoyed that.. and yes to a point - well for the first episode it appeared that is what they thought was going on anyway. All bad science. Annoys me.
