I can't watch it, she's just too annoying.  Had her in the back on my taxi once.  ;D

She had a big black minder with her, and neither of them said a word!

Do you drive one of those little black cabs around simon? I've always wanted to take a trip in one of those. I've heard cabbies over there have one hell of a training program.

The training that you have heard of Bob is called "The Knowledge".
I think it only applies to London cabs.

Quote
London or the suburbs?
All-London drivers - also known as Green Badge drivers - need a detailed knowledge of London within a six mile radius of Charing Cross.

All-London drivers have to learn 320 routes (or runs). They also need to know all the landmarks and places of interest along the runs.

It takes between two and four years to pass the All-London Knowledge. Once you are licensed you can work anywhere in the Greater London area.

Suburban
Suburban drivers (also known as Yellow Badge drivers) can choose from London's nine suburban sectors. They must know between 30 and 51 runs in detail. They also need to know all landmarks and places of interest on the runs.

It takes around two years to become a licensed Suburban taxi driver. Once qualified, you can only work in the sector you are licensed for.

Maybe this will be phased out as more and more cabbies will be relying on sat navs to find their way around London.

No, I don't drive a black cab, Bob, as I am in a country area, and they are more suited to bigger towns and cities.  There is now a knowledge test for new drivers, but there wasn't when I started 25 years ago, so all my knowledge has been gained by experience, and getting lost!  ;D
