Broadcaster Stephen Fry has criticised British TV saying it is "shocking" how "infantilised" adult programmes have become.
"I'm not saying TV should be pompous and academic, but it should surprise and astonish," he said. The QI host said BBC shows Merlin and Doctor Who, were "wonderfully written" but "not for adults".

I always find that Jonathon Ross surprises and astonishes me - basically as to how come he ever got a job in the first place.

Stephen Fry is correct. Our TV is extremely childish and produced for pond life who are quite happy to live their lives through reality shows and soap operas.

I know. I used to think American TV was rubbish, nowadays it doesn't seem to be.

QI is definitely childish.

"Infantilised" isn't a real word. You're overdoing the Lithium, Stephen. ':|
