Google removed two free applications from Android phones this week, using a feature that allows them to delete the applications from phones remotely.

so can Apple, and they have too.

Google got rid of the apps cause they were problem apps, security issues?

I understand that, but even so, if they can do that, it's unsettling to think what else they might be able to do, given their propensity towards data retention.

I see what you are saying, but they really dont care - as long as they can advertise to you on their search engine / youtube etc, they do not give a s**t. No one ever looks at the data, its all automated and of course they have to delete personal data in the UK after so many days, I believe.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it, but is everybody else doing it?  OK, so we know Apple do, but Windows Mobile?  BlackBerry?  Can't say for sure, but I've never heard it mentioned of those two.  :dunno:
