A 2008 cyber attack launched from an infected flash drive in the Middle East penetrated secret US military computers, a Pentagon official says.

Those "secret computers" weren't terribly secret after all ::) ...

So how much more difficult would it be to launch a concerted attack on the infrastructure of an entire country?  Such an attack would likely bring civilisation in that country to its knees within a few short weeks.  On the 'plus' side, it would also take the Web with it.  Probably no need to worry then.

A number of countries have intelligence service departments dedicated to planning just such an action.

The Chinese have a staff of 100,000 in just such a department.  The British have a staff of 28 to repel them.
