An iPhone app that converts Flash-based video into HTML5 to run on Apple handsets has been pulled from the App Store after just one day after proving too popular.The Skyfire browser gets around Steve Jobs' Flash ban on mobile devices by converting the video in the cloud and then streaming it to devices using HTML5. But the company's servers were overwhelmed by traffic and the app was removed from the shop window while administrators upgraded systems.
“Despite our best attempts and predictions, the demand far exceeds our initial projections,” Skyfire’s senior director of product management Robert Oberhofer said in the company's blog.
“The user experience was performing well for the first few hours, but as the surge continued, the peak load on our servers and bandwidth caused the video experience to degrade.”
