Topic: Stargazing Live

Did anyone else see Stargazing Live last night?  I thought it was rather good.

Sorry, Gill, I didn't - after the past couple of days I had my eyes closed whilst sinking a pint of Fursty Ferret.

It was an excellent mix Gill and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.  Apart from the Jonathan Ross piece of course!  You may have been able to observe the last bit of the partial solar eclipse this morning if the weather forecast for the Midlands was accurate.

Didn't see diddly squat except clouds, I'm afraid .  It'll be the same again tonight but at least the forecast looks better tomorrow.

I watched a bit of it. Thought it was ok, but was overall disappointed in some of the quality of it, especially some of the descriptions missing out on obvious things (e.g. the plane that was flashing near jupiter and what a light year is). Still not as bad as some of the pretentious science documentaries I've seen recently on the BBC.

As for the eclipse was bloody cloudy, actually a small bank, just over the University of Birmingham's view today.

It's a shame they did not seem to understand when the Quadrantid meteor shower peaks this year.  It was in fact the very early hours of Tuesday morning but they (and the weather forecaster) told viewers to look out for it tonight when they will be lucky to catch just one or two.  QUADRANTIDS 2011 .

I wondered about that too.  Still, it was funny when the presenter was talking to the camera, completely unaware that a meteor was shooting through the night sky behind him.

Yes, the camera captured it very well indeed.
