true but its pretty normal here, but its not normal for roads to be closed, especially the trans-Canada highway.

We see the pictures from Queensland every day on our news bulletins Kate and it's hard to believe the floods are so extensive.  Australia's climate has seriously changed in recent years and they say there is worse to come.  And my nephew has just moved to Sydney.

well all our statements about climate are based on such short data timescales compared to the larger and longer trends...

I'm fine, I'm on the top of a mountain.  :)  For the time being anyway.

I heard someone say today that the flooded area, if comparing to Europe, would include all of Great Britain and extent through to Italy.

Northern NSW is now getting the flood waters. Parts of Victoria are facing torrential rain and Tasmania. And there is a cyclone forming of the coast of WA

A land of droughts and flooding rain!

They'll be complaining it's too hot soon!  But seriously, it looks pretty bad over there.  I have relations near Sydney, but I gather they're OK.  Stay where you are, Kate!  :)

With the heat come the mosquitoes, ross river virus, dengue fever.
QLD police have released a statement that sewage has entered creeks and the Brisbane river.

Sydney region is fine, so far. I did hear someone saying that Sydney could see some flooding this summer.

But we'll see what the morning brings in Brisbane. A king tide up the Brisbane river and the river will peak at 4.00am

Kevin Rudd was wading through waist high water with a suitcase on his head. Even ex prime ministers are immune.
