What a shock!  Would never have guessed he'd go so soon.  An extremely talented guitarist.  Saw him in Brighton a couple of years ago.

SHOCK!

I saw him in Rock City in Nottingham. Ian Paice on drums.
Great gig and venue. Because of its size ITS DEAFNING - WOT?? -  It's the north's Marquee. Spill your beer and it falls on the stage, sort of place.
My brother remembers seeing him with Skid Row, another great Irish band.

Who else have I seen in Rock City, I hear you say. Well, Duran Duran - Gillan - Saxon - Marillion - Steve Hackett - Aerosmith - Ozzy Osbourne - Big Audio Dynamite - Dio (R.I.P) - The Cult -The Blur - Motorheard WOT? - Tygers of Pan Tang. A few more maybe.

And my bro saw Guns and Roses there.

Anyway, last year I saw AC/DC and U2 here in Seville, and my wife and I went to Cordoba to see Deep Purple.

Time to listen to some Gary.

It certainly was a shock, and there's no one coming along to replace these guys, apart from maybe Joe Bonamassa.

There will never be another Ronnie James Dio, but I'm lucky to say I saw him live a number of times.

We look at these guys as legends.
It hurts when someone you admire dies.
I remember when Phil Lynott went, followed by Steve Clark (Def Leppard) and then Rick Allen lost his left arm. I thought the world was comimg to an end.

Anyway, lets look forward. There's something called 'Guitar festival of Cordoba' (Spain) that normally attracts some talent. Last year Purple and Knopfler were there, to mention a few. A few years ago Gary Moore was there.

If anyone is interested there will soon be flights with Ryanair from East Midlands to Seville, and Cordoba is just up the road. I'd strongly recommend it. By the way, Cordoba is very, very hot in July.

Sounds like it could be good, John.  The one that hit me the most was Freddie Mercury, and it's hard to believe it will be 20 years this November, since he died.
