Data is going missing from Google's calendar service, leaving users without their schedules.

Google claimed only a small number of users had seen appointments wiped from their diaries.

"I'm desperate," said one of dozens of users taking to the Google support forum to complain. "All my private calendars gone. I don't even know what to do in the next hour, let alone in the next weeks or months."

"The same thing has happened to our company, which relies on Google's platform for our communication," said another user. "Many calendars are just wiped out."

How sad is that?

I'd be the same, but not quite to that degree, without my iPhone.

I'd be lost on longer term appointments, say more than a month ahead, but the next few hours...

Some days I could be stuck.  I tend to put stuff in the phone calendar, with reminder alerts, then forget them, as I don't have to remember them.

I used to work with a designer who refused to use a diary, arguing that his memory should be adequate for the task. I try to follow his example, though not as well as I used to.

if its mission critical then you really shouldn't be just using google calendars... well have their functionality but for feck sake have a daily backup.

Indeed, same with emails.
