Martin Lewis is advertising
THIS
deal from Primus Home Phone Saver. It appears that for £7.99 a month I can get line rental plus free weekend and evening calls. ATM I am paying around £40 a month for line and weekend calls only. What do you think of this deal?

It looks OK on the surface, Clive, but does have a 10.5p minimum charge and a 12 month contract. Mobile rates are higher than IDNet's. You really need to look at your call patterns and compare on a usage basis.

Oh I don't intend to replace my IDnet Rik. It's for elsewhere where I hardly use the phone or internet. IDNet would not be a viable option under those circumstances.

How is it that you're paying £40 per month currently, Clive? That seems quite a lot.

Sorry, I meant a quarter! My last bill was £46 and that's with BT of course. I need a BT line because of the door entry system and on top of that I pay £5.99 a month to Plusnet for an internet connection. The Primus deal seems almost too good to be true.

IDNet do a line only package for just over £11 per month, reduced to just over £10 per month if you pay annually. Might be worth considering for peace of mind.

And Simon can refer you, so that's £10 off on top.

So what exactly is their cheapest deal? I would obviously stay with Plusnet because their internet deal is unbeatable. I'm also getting 6 meg with them.

5 hours a month would be quite adequate. The anytime also includes Thailand which may prove very useful for my daughter-in-law.

Yes, she could! But I think she usually types in a code to get cheap calls anyway. And she's heavily into Skype.
