Microsoft acknowledged Windows' downloads estimates are something of a joke.

Microsoft is something of a joke.

Tell you what.  From the bits I have read about Windows 8, it will turn out to be to Windows 7 what Vista was to XP or what ME was to 98 - a f***ing pile of sh1te.

Of course, there will always be those who have to keep up with the Jones's who will infect their machines with it.

Well, that's that off my chest.  Rant over!

Why is this important?  We all know the file-move timer is about as accurate as an England striker in a penalty shoot-out.  So what?

As a matter of interest, what does the forum think are the really important issues that Micro$oft should be addressing?  For me, I'd like to see the code spruced up so it takes up less memory and runs faster.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

I can't really comment, having not used Windows 7 much, but I've been saying for a long time that Windows should not allow users to connect online without adequate, updated security.  Does MSE come pre-installed yet?

Don't think so, Simon, but my Windows 7 laptop had something called Windows Defender running, which I turned off as I use another anti-spyware program.

That's been around for a while, Dave.  I tend to leave that running, myself, as it doesn't seem to interfere with anything else.  :)
