Ultraviolet link to cold winters

Larger than expected variations in the Sun's ultraviolet output can explain weather patterns in recent northern hemisphere winters, including the UK's cold spells, scientists conclude.

I think we're due a mild winter this time.  I hope to God we don't get a repetition of the last one!

Berries Simon, berries.  We countryfolk are in touch with Nature.   :)x  As a backup we have El Nino.  It's a sign.  Buy your vests and long john's now before Osborne slaps a heavier tax on them.

I hope next summer is sunnier than this one.  I've spent a weekend making green tomato chutney.

My sister-in-law supplies me with copious quantities of green tomato chutney which I spice up to use with curries.

I put two tablespoons of black pepper, one teaspoon of black mustard seeds and two dried chillies into my batch of green tomato chutney yesterday, then cooked the six pounds of vegetables down to fill three jars.  Believe me, this chutney will be a curry in its own right!
