Edmundo Ros has died
« on: October 22, 2011, 12:00 »
The BBC has announced the death of Edmundo Ros at the age of 100. A great loss to all of us who danced to his music. :rip:

I'll have to educate you. In this case, the subject would be history as he retired in 1975. ;)

He brought happy Latin music to the whole world.  Sadly missed :rip: .
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Oh yes, I have several of his albums - particularly on Decca Phase 4.  The Edmundo Ross orchestra played the best Latin-American music you could dance to - always lots of fun.  Perhaps his most famous piece was the Tea for Two cha cha

Phase 4 - happy memories. :) I loved to dance to his music, the rhythm was so infused into the music, it made you a better dancer.

I have one called Heath versus Ross - two great bands competing with each other.  8-)

It reminds me of the trouble I used to go to setting up my SME tone arm. CDs are much easier. :)

It seemed like good fun back then, Clive, but when you think of all the adjustments that had to be made, it was a bit like setting up a new computer. :)

Yes, I have a Systemsdeck although I don't use it these days.  Mrs Clive wants me to get rid of it.

Probably because it's got 6" of dust on it. :)
