I quite liked him, especially in the early days when he was on Luxembourg.  Apparently he was the first DJ to use two turntables at the same time.  Definitely one of the good guys!

When he was younger, he used to come through Chorley town centre every summer with a massive convoy of vehicles carrying orphans from Manchester on their annual Blackpool Fun Day, sponsored by the Variety Club.  No seats belts in those days and he would hang out of the car window waving as they went by.  :rip:

Oddly enough, Dave, I met him through his work with the National Association of Youth Clubs. He'd bring a group of under-privileged youngsters up to London for a holiday each year.
