Brandy had that affect on me at the age of 30.

Never really got into brandy, Clive, headed for port instead. Cue song. ;)

Scotch, Jack Daniels to be precise, had that effect on me too, in about 1986, and I didn't touch it again until very recently, but I have now acquired a taste for single malts.  :)

No, the ones in a bottle.  :)x

Actually, I haven't exactly tried loads, only Isle of Jura, and I've bought myself a bottle of Old Poultney for Christmas.  I do tend to save it for special occasions.  Too bloody expensive to have all the time!

You should try some of the Speyside malts, eg Tamdhu, Knockando, Glenlivet, The MacAllan etc.

I'd treat myself to a couple of these if I was flush.

Oh, I aim to try them ALL!   Might take me 30 years, though.

The most I have ever spent on a bottle is £35 but the single malt to which Rod refers is very tempting.  We buy an incredibly palatable Italian red for around £2.99 a bottle at Aldi's. I never thought I would confess to that!   ;D

Nice wine doesn't have to cost the earth.  In fact, on balance, I think I've had more grotty expensive bottles than grotty cheap ones.
