Transit of Venus on 6th June
« on: June 01, 2012, 14:17 »
Don't forget the transit of Venus on Wednesday morning! I've  put together a blog post on this that has some useful links and a couple of dodgy photos of me from 2004:  http://www.krioma.net/blog/2012/06/transit_of_venus_on_6th_june.php

I saw the 2004 event from a supermarket car park where I had a crowd of shoppers gathered around me thinking I was loopy loo.     Of course anyone wearing solar eclipse glasses looks a bit like that.   ;D  Excellent blog Sam.  The interviewer looked rather nice.    o:)

So did anyone see it, it was just cloudy here.

Annoying thing was how blue the opposite side of the sky was: http://www.flickr.com/photos/starrydude/7158736645/in/photostream

Well it was all over by the time you both got up anyway.     I peered out of the window at 5am but it was wet so I went back to bed.  Did anyone see the Horizon programme last night?  It was surprisingly informative.

I didn't - I find science on the tv quite annoying these days. I hear it was all women though.

Yes, the omnipresent Lucie Green.  Of course nobody mentioned that the 2117 transit takes place in the middle of the night from the UK so nobody will see it.  And absolutely nobody will tell you that the next appearance of Halley's comet will be a total disaster as it will be on the far side of the Sun.   :o:
