Can't Decide
« on: May 30, 2003, 21:56 »
I can't decide which Graphics card to get it's all so complicated  ??? I want a Radeon...

All the following cards are in my price range and are 128Mb DDR

Should it be the 9000
or how about the renamed 8500 the 9100
or the mysterious 9200

Any help would be much apreciated :)

Most people seem to rate the new radeons Robo,a friend of mine still prefers the Nvidia ones as he reckons they always work with any PC without the hassle hes had fitting radeons.
Cant speak from my own experience though.
One thing confuses me with the newer cards, they keep increasing the frame rates,I think the latest are way past 100 fps now.
WHY ?

Isnt the maximum rate that the human eye works at 24fps  ???

Cheers. I think, if I can remember right from Standard Grade Physics that the human eye is tricked into thinking that something is moving when it's pictures at 25 FPS but it can see a change between 25 - 60 before it's just same old same old  :) The reason they run games like Quake 3 at 300 FPS is for people to think ooooooo wow that must be powerful, the only problem is that monitors can't go that high  :)

Looked at one of the reviews there so thats the 9000 off my list  :) The 9200 performed significantly better so now I have to choose from:

Radeon 9100
Radeon 9200

It's probably because of the drivers, strange thing is though I installed the Radeon 7500 that I had onto my other PC and after a click it all installed, auto restarted and SHAZAM! It was working perfectly, now my brother can play most games at 1024x768 and high detail without anything jumping :D
