The icon hasn't appeared on any of my machines so presumably my antivirus software must be doing its job.   ;D

I had the icon as soon as I installed the last lot of updates, but a quick google gave me the solution that Davy posted above.  It's gone now.

What is all this fuss over a tiny icon in the bottom right of your screen. It takes no space and it is offering you a free update to a new operating system, it's not forcing you to change it is all about letting you have it downloaded  ready for when you change your mind.

If Apple did this the world would be full of praise but not if it's Microsoft as they are imposing the new system on Windows users (for free).  :dunno:

OK, Den, I'll come round and pop a non-removable sticker on your front door, saying I'll be there in a few weeks to paint your house in a colour of my own choice.  You can opt out by jumping through a few hoops, but then I'll keep nagging you afterwards to have it done anyway.  Will that be OK?

My point exactly Clive, it's so small that it does not upset me and will disappear on July 29th 2015 when I upgrade anyway.  :)x

It's almost invisible on a 10" netbook.

you might be surprised by Windows 10
The test model seems much better than 8 and on par with 7
i been testing it out for a week or more and it seems ok
Best thing Ive found so far is you have much more control over settings than with windows 8

Careful what you say about Windows 8 Davy.  Den is the one person on the planet who actually likes it.   ;D

I just believe in keeping up to date with the operating system so I did not jump from XP to W8.1 I took the journey via 98, Vista, 7 and 8. I will move up to 10 because of the excellent reviews other wise I would have been happy to stay with 8.1 but would not have considered going back to 7.  :)
