Whatsapp is good (mostly) although the messages belong to the phone number, so if you change number you lose them and if you change phone with the same number it's very difficult to transfer them (in my case impossible  ).
On the plus side it's "free" to sent texts, pictures even video other than a charge for the data if you don't have access to wifi, whereas if you used the normal texting app even on wifi the costs for MMS messages is astronomical, even a few emojis can end costing multiples of 25 pence.

I forgot to mention that MMS is not included in your normal data plan so it's an additional cost even if you have a monthly contract.
I've not noticed any annoying notifications with Whatsapp, you can turn sounds off associated with it anyway.

I've turned off all notification sounds apart from phone.  Thanks for the Whatsapp information - I'll give it a go when I'm away on holiday.  I've ordered a 64Gb micro SD card and despite my best efforts got tricked into accepting Amazon Prime.  I have to say I was incandescent with rage and fired off an angry e-mail.  But I've managed to
cancel it through my account.

I hate Amazon Prime, and I wish there was a setting to turn off all notifications and promotions of it.

I had a very apologetic phone call from Amazon this afternoon telling me my Prime account was cancelled and I will not be charged for it.  I haven't quite mastered answering a phone call when the phone is sleeping.  I need to keep phoning myself from the landline to get more practice.

I have to admit, though, I still fumble when answering a call, and frequently hang up instead of answering.

I've fallen for the Amazon Prime trick despite my best efforts, like you I managed to cancel it. You can cancel providing you haven't bought anything using it.

Funny how it's so easy to sign up for Prime, but try sending something back that's say 7 months old and that's a different story entirely.

I can't complain about Amazon.  The only irritation I have is that their delivery drivers can't tell the difference between a rear porch (my safe place) and a front doorstep.

And I've had the money back from my (non) Kodi box.

They've always been spot on with refunds for me - sometimes I've even received the refund before they've received the goods back.

Yesterday I had to endure a 2 hour update and today I have had to endure one lasting half an hour.  There is another waiting to strike.  Will I ever get chance to use the phone?

Just leave it on overnight.

Now it's downloading Android 7 Nougat for the next 2 hours!  This is the third version of Android I've had to endure since commissioning the phone last Thursday.    I have a question regarding photos.  Does the camera have a zoom facility?
