Laura and Co.
« on: May 28, 2020, 20:41 »
A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents.

A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A BBC reporter, Laura Kuenssberg, has watched the whole event.

Laura, addressing the Harley rider says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.”

The Harley rider replies, "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.”

Miss Kuenssberg "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a BBC journalist, you know, and tomorrow's news will run this story. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?”

The biker replies "I'm a British Army veteran, a Conservative and I voted for Brexit”. The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker turns on BBC News to see if it indeed brings news of his actions.

BBC Headline: RIGHT WING UK VETERAN ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT & STEALS HIS LUNCH.

And THAT pretty much sums up the BBC's approach to the news these days.

She (Laura Kuenssberg) bloody annoyed me this evening.  After Boris made a pretty significant announcement relating to social gatherings, all she could do was continue banging on about bloody Dominic Cummings.  ::)

I'd say the journos are doing their job and reacting to Bojo's Trumpesque announcement that a line has been drawn under the subject. The govt have obviously seen the national polls on the matter and gone into double down mode.

The government is right to double down.  In fact, I'm surprised BoJo hasn't been more aggressive in his defence of Cummings.  My real problem with all this is it's distracting attention away from matters of governance.

It'll be interesting to see if the traditional Tory papers draw a line under it. When the Telegraph and Mail are bitterly criticising them along with hard liners like Steve Baker and over 40 other Tories demanding Cummings goes they have clearly annoyed a lot of the people they rely on for support.

Well Bojos good at sweeping things under the carpet so this one should be a cinch compared to lying to the queen, prorogueing parliament or even two timing various wives and girlfriends.

If he'd just got rid or better still Cummings had resigned then he wouldn't have these issues. They're both taking people for mugs.

Cummings is an extremely unpopular character within the political bubble and terrifies MPs and Civil Servants alike.  But the guy is a genius and won the Brexit Referendum and the Election for Boris.  He has plans to create new technology companies in the UK and already Nissan has dumped its factory in Spain to bring its European car production to Sunderland.

He's like a Trump with brains, he doesn't like playing by any rules other than hos own. I think genius might be a bit of a stretch, for example he had days to "remember what happened" when he drove to Durham but his account of the illness timeline was completely at odds with his wifes previously published account. He was also found out when he added content to a vlog he had done to reinforce his "genius" at predicting coronavirus. He's a fraud so this might account for Bojo admiring him so much.
Anyhow I thought Brexit supporters didn't like unelected bureaucrats.  :dunno:  :o:

People compare him to Peter Mandelson, but I see him as more of a Malcolm Tucker figure.
