RAM Sandwich On Toasted Wheat
« on: July 01, 2003, 19:25 »
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's a crumb of an idea that turned into a success: A computer designed to look like a toaster.
Adam Bertram, a network administrator from Nashville, Tennessee, has caught the computer world's attention by turning a four-slice toaster into a working desktop computer.

It may not toast bread anymore, but it gets internet access, plays DVDs and blends into the decor of his kitchen counter.

Even more amazing is that it was Bertram's first time building a computer from the ground up and the results have drawn accolades from netheads as far away as Russia, Finland, Israel and China.

In fact, the website where he displays the "toast-puter" was flooded by so much traffic it was shut down.

Bertram says he might start cranking out toaster computers and selling them, but first he's working on a second toaster design that will improve on the previous model.

His designs can be seen at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/adamb29

A seriously cool job of engineering there, but why?
